When did you start your yoga journey?
About twenty years ago. I wandered into a power yoga class at my local YMCA and was hooked.
What do you enjoy the most about your practice?
It changes and grows with me, which matters more as I get older. Twenty years ago every class was a sweaty workout. Now I focus on balance and mobility and pace myself on the tougher stuff.
What’s your favorite thing about 108 Yoga?
I came this summer because I knew Tracy was a wonderful teacher. I stayed for the warm, welcoming community, which starts with Tracy’s family: Chad and one or more of their children are virtually always there. They pitch in, and they’re serious yogis, too. I also love the variety of classes, all taught multilevel, true to Tracy’s philosophy of meeting you where you are. She has a remarkable gift for adapting the class while helping each student adapt, too.
What do you like to do when you’re not at yoga?
Spending time with my sons and their families. I’m also a dog person. My younger dog and I did agility training (he was great; I was untrainable), and we still practice and play frisbee two or three times a day
Whats your walkout song?
“We Pray” by Coldplay. My sons banned Coldplay from the house when they lived at home, so now it’s my guilty pleasure.
One word to describe you?
Curious. It keeps me learning as I get older.
What is your favorite class? And why?
I can’t pick just one! I’m an extreme morning person, so I’m usually at Rise and Depth. I wish I could get to Lift more often, because I love challenging arm balances.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I once started a small children’s yoga company called Lolliyoga and volunteered teaching at a subsidized daycare and a homeless shelter. Family demands and the pandemic ended it, but knowing how much work it took makes me admire 108 Yoga even more.
